Federal Skilled Worker

The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program has minimum requirements for skilled work experience, language ability and education. In order to be able to apply, applicants must score 67 points on the six FSW selection factor assessments, including age, education, work experience, whether you have a valid job offer, English and/or French language skills, and adaptability (how well you’re likely to settle in Canada).

Work Experience: Applicants must have at least 1 year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time skilled work experience in one of the eligible categories including managerial jobs, professional jobs, or technical jobs and skilled trades. The work performed must have been paid, within the last 10 years.

Language: Applicants must meet the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) of 7 in all four areas including: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. Applicants must provide approved language test results.

Education: Applicants must have completed Canadian secondary education, or college or university education, with a certificate, diploma or degree from the Canadian institution. Foreign education is acceptable if applicants provide an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) proving their education is equal to a completed certificate, diploma or degree from a Canadian secondary institution or post-secondary institution.
