Temporary Resident Visa
Before foreign nationals come to Canada on a temporary basis either as a visitor, a student, or a worker, they have to obtain a Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa) prior to their travel to Canada, unless they are from visa-exempt countries. A temporary resident visa is issued by a Canadian visa office as to indicate that the foreign nationals have met the requirements for admission to Canada for a temporary period.
Generally, in order to obtain a Temporary Resident Visa, applicants have to possess a valid passport or travel document and sufficient funds for their intended stay in Canada, and demonstrate strong ties to their home country such as a job, home, financial assets or family in that country, and have an intention to leave Canada at the end of the intended visit. In addition, they should have no criminal or immigration-related convictions.
